View of the remains of the ancient site of Brauron, near the actual
Vravrona, Greece. The excavations have unearthed a sacred complex of
the V century B.C., including, aside from the temple proper, also a
rectangular building composed of several rooms, in which probably the
girls were accommodated during their period of seclusion. Several pottery
fragments have been discovered, along with some marble statues, portraying
young girls, dating to the IV and III centuries B.C. in the nearby of
the temple was located a sacred spring, where many wooden objects have
been found, which had been let there as an offering.
