Human-Animal Transformation

Back

Earthenware masks from Tiryns, dating back to the VII century B.C., now in the Archaeological Museum of Nauplion, Nafplio, Greece. The faces represented on the masks show an original admixture of animal and anthropomorphic traits: wide ears of human appearance, large and prominent noses, mouth with fangs, great and bulging eyes. At present, there is no documentation which could shed light on their employment.
