Human-Animal Transformation

Back

Illustration from a parchment manuscript (Ms. Bodl. 602) of the XIII century, in the Bodleian Library, University of Oxford. The image shows a group of figures inherited from Classical mythology: the Sirens, represented as bird-women, and the Centaurs, whose wild temperament is suggested by the parts of humans bodies that they are carrying, probably an allusion to their cannibalistic costumes.
