Relief showing the Sun god, Shamash, sitting on a throne while a ruler
is approaching accompanied by two divinities. At the center is shown
an altar surmounted by a sun disk, which is lifted up by some servants
of the god. Above the head of the gods are represented the symbols of
the heavenly triad: the Moon, the Sun and the planet Venus. The object
is attributable to 888-855 B.C., comes from Sippar, in Iraq, and is
in the British Museum, London.
