Relief from the Sargon II palace at Dur-Sharrukin (present day Khorsabad,
Iraq), dating back to the VIII century B.C. and representing the Assyrian
king in front of a flowering tree, probably a “tree of life”,
symbol of fertility and generative power. The object is in the Louvre
Museum, Paris.
