Female Symbols

Back

Anthropomorphic figure, probably female, with the body thoroughly covered with a spiral decoration. In this case appears again the association of the spiral-like motif with the feminine, which has been identified in megalithic art. The object comes from Vadastra, a site which belongs to the Neolithic culture of Vinca (4500 B.C.) and is in the Romanian National History Museum (Muzeul National de Istorie a Romaniei), Bucarest, Romania.
