Human-Animal Transformation

Back

Painted ceramic female figure, from El Ma’mariya (Upper Egypt) and dating back to about 3500 B.C. The statuette’s head recall that of a bird, and the posture and the shape of the arms seems outspread wings, perhaps representing a dance movement. The object comes from a pre-dynastic tomb and is in the Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York, USA.
