Wall painting showing a pair of horses. The head of one of them coincides with the profile of the rock wall. Alongside are visible handprints obtained laying the hand on the wall and blowing the paint over it, thus producing a negative picture (Pech Merle cave, French Pyrenees, Gravettian period, about 25,000 years B.P.). The meaning of the handprints is obscure, however their position near the horses suggests a symbolic correlation between humans and animals.
