Reconstruction of the burial of an eight-year child, found at Teshik-Tash
in Uzbekistan. The body is completely surrounded and covered by ibex
horns, whereas the animal skin envelope is conjectural. It is another
attestation of the way in which Neanderthals took care of their dead
and conceived a link between the animal world and the world of the dead.
Mousterian period (about 50/40,000 years B.P.). American Museum of Natural
History, New York, USA.
