Figure on the left:
Sculpture on a stone wall, near Borgone di Susa, Turin, Italy. It is
locally known as “Maometto” (“Muhammad”). It
is a relief of the Roman period, datable to about the II or III century
A.D., worn from the elements, which represents a divinity with a mantle
and accompanied by a dog, holding in his right hand an object, which
could be a stick (more visible in the little image), and in his left
one a hardly identifiable thing, but not incompatible with a bundle
of branches or leaves: elements that are attributable to Silvanus.
